BEETROOT

“Boltardy”

600 Seeds

An excellent, very popular early variety with as the name suggests good resistance to bolting.  The beets are a deep red with smooth skin and an intense sweet flavour.   Young leaves can be used as baby leaves in mixed salads.

Sow seeds in situ in Spring after the last frost when the ground has warmed up and then plant successive sowings to early summer.

Thinly Sow 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart. Thin seedlings to 8cm apart.

Early sowings can be made indoors / heated greenhouse in modules / trays and planted out at 5cm tall after all risk of frost has passed.

Pre soaking seed in warm water 0.5 – 1 hour before sowing will speed up germination.

As one of the few DEFRA registered and inspected sellers on eBay, you can be assured of hand selected seeds of the highest quality and purity, well packaged to ensure they reach you in perfect condition.  (All seeds are offered with a minimum life of 2 seasons unless othewise stated)

Free Postage & Packaging for any additional seed packets purchased regardless of variety. (Orders must be combined prior to payment – Please check only one P&P charge has been applied on the invoice prior to payment – full instructions on left of our main shop page)

Germination

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY – Please note seed is a live product which depends on many important related grower skills such as proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, watering, proper use of fertilizers, weed controls, fungicides, insecticides, disease free soil, and reasonable weather conditions during the growing period.  Germination is affected by such factors as temperature, moisture content, light intensity and contamination of planting media. Although we do everything possible to get seeds to you in the best possible condition far exceeding legal requirements and will provide as much help as possible, these factors are totally outside of our control and once you receive the seeds its over to you.  Consequently, we can take no responsibility for the suitability to your local conditions of any variety offered, the indicative cultivation advice provided or ultimately the varieties performance.  As such you should seek local advice to carefully ensure your local conditions and the time of season are appropriate to the variety purchased.

Finally thank you for looking and we hope you enjoy looking through the extensive varieties we have on offer, if you need anything clarified please do not hesitate to ask.
